Video: Winter Tyres vs Summer Tyres
Th Bavarian automaker has recently published a video in which it shows the differences between winter tyres and summer tyres in snowy conditions, with two exemplars BMW X3.
I am sure most of you already know the advantages of using the appropriate tyres during the cold season, but having a video that shows how snow tyres perform in comparison with summer tyres on surfaces covered by snow in situations like a hill start, when cornering or braking is definitely more suggestive.
Lorinser Easybrid Smart ForTwo
In other news involving German tuners showcasing their creations at the 2010 Essen Motor Show, we found out about the Easybrid project through which Lorinser wants to achieve a low-cost hybrid from a Smart ForTwo.
The Lorinser Easybrid Smart ForTwo was born from the tuner’s idea of adding an electric motor to a conventionally powered car with drum brakes on the rear axle, which will also offer the driver the possibility of traveling in pure electric mode as well.
BRABUS WIDESTAR Mercedes SLS
German tuner BRABUS has introduced at this year’s Essen Motor Show the BRABUS WIDESTAR Mercedes SLS which is…you guessed it, a wide-body conversion based on the SLS.
The BRABUS WIDESTAR Mercedes SLS features a custom-tailored high-tech carbon-fiber body program, PLATINUM EDITION 20/21 inch forged alloys, an electronically adjustable Ride Control smooth-ride suspension, a high-performance titanium exhaust system and a customized interior.
This wide version BRABUS WIDESTAR Mercedes SLS is wider at the rear due to the add-on parts for the rear fenders, so this means the tuner had to fit special wheels which widen the rear track by 20 mm.
2011 Vauxhall Antara
The facelift version 2011 Vauxhall Antara, known as the Opel Antara for the rest of Europe, will go on sale in UK in December 2010, with pricing for the entry-level model starting at 3,000 GBP below than what the outgoing model costs.
Besides exterior modifications like a an updted front gill, new fog lights, new design 19-inch alloys and revamped rear lights, the 2011 Vauxhall Antara comes with revised engines that are now Euro 5 compliant, which means improved fuel consumption and reduced emissions.
Project Kahn 2011 Porsche Cayenne
British tuner Project Kahn is offering photos with their interpretation of the 2011 Porsche Cayenne. Other than a few discrete changes to the front bumper, the only noticeable upgrade at the exterior is represented by the set of 22 inch alloy wheels.
The most complex work is at the interior where the Project Kahn 2011 Porsche Cayenne received a two-tone leather treatment (black and red), new stitching, stainless-steel door-entry guards and aluminium pedals.
2011 Volkswagen Eos price
VW has published the 2011 Volkswagen Eos price list, as the company’s facelift open-top model, which debuted at the 2010 Paris Motor Show will go on sale across UK early in 2011.
The 2011 Volkswagen Eos price starts at 22,895 GBP and the three equipment grades to be offered will be SE, Sport and Exclusive.
The TSI petrol and TDI diesel engines powering the 2011 Volkswagen Eos range from 122 PS to 210 PS, and as far as transmission options, customers will be able to choose between a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed DSG.
2011 Ginetta G55
Ginetta is offering details regarding their GT Supercup program for 2011, in which they will field the dual-class G55 and G50 cars.
The 2011 Ginetta G55 is powered by a 3.7-litre engine from Ford, which produces 370 bhp and which is linked to a Hewland gearbox, plus the car also comes with a new cool air induction kit, better brakes, a new exhaust system and improved aerodynamics.
The 2011 Ginetta G55 price is 75,000 GBP and for those who want to upgrade their current G50 to a G55, the cost will be 25,000 GBP.
2011 Aston Martin Vantage GT4
British car maker Aston Martin has released preliminary information as well as photos with the 2011 Vantage GT4.
Still based on the road going V8 Vantage and featuring a remapped 4.7-litre engine the manufacturer says the 2011 Aston Martin Vantage GT4 offers increased levels of power and torque, but unfortunately no exact figures have been mentioned.
Enhanced aerodynamics and increased levels of downforce were also achieved and for the first time, the automaker allows customers to choose a race-developed Bosch ABS and traction control system for their 2011 Aston Martin Vantage GT4.
Twingo Gordini 100 price
Renault has put a price tag on their special edition Twingo Gordini 100 which will go on sale across UK in January 2011.
Powered by the new 1.2-litre TCe (Turbo Control Efficiency) petrol engine, the Twingo Gordini 100 outputs 100 HP @ 5,500 rpm and can reach a maximum speed of 117 mph. Even though this small French car is quite sporty and dynamic, consumption and emission figures did not have to suffer as the Twingo Gordini 100 returns 49.5 mpg (combined UK rating) and has CO2 emissions levels of 132 grams per Km.
Senner Audi TT
Senner Tuning’s transformation of the Audi TT which is now called the POWER TT comes with a range of accessories and also packs additional performance into the German 2+2.
By adding aftermarket performance parts like a power converter, a new valve-controlled exhaust system linked to an intercooler and a sports air filter and also by revising the engine electronics, the Senner Audi TT is now able to develop 430 HP from its 2.5-litre turbocharged unit.
