The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive circled the Nuurburgring Nordschleife (“north loop”) in a record time of 7:56.234 minutes. Therefore, the electric AMG super sports car is at the same time the first electrically-powered series production vehicle, which masters the legendary race track in under eight minutes.

Nobuhiro ‘Monster’ Tajima has improved his personal best and set a new record at the Pikes Peak last week, after his modified, 910 HP Suzuki SX4 has completed the 12.4 mile long course in 9:51.278.

Apart from being the quickest, this is also the first time anyone has ever raced to the top of Pikes Peak in less then 10 minutes, so if you are curious to see how it all looked from behind the steering wheel, then the video below the jump will provide just that.

Monster Tajima’s dream of breaking the 10 minutes barrier at Pikes Peak has been accomplished as the 60 years old man managed to set a new record at the International Hill Climb of 9 minutes 51.278 seconds in his Suzuki SX4 Climb Special.

With 925 horsepower as his disposal, Nobuhiro Tajima has smashed his previous record of 10 minutes 01.41 seconds, and as the video will show, he really pushed that car to the limits, with water spewing out of the radiator as he came to the finish.

Yesterday we talked about Renault’s recent achievement on the Nurburgring, which consists of a new track record (8 min 7.97 seconds) for FWD vehicles, set by test driver Laurent Hurgon behind the wheel of the new Renault Megane RS 265 Trophy.

Renault has introduced the limited edition Megane RS 265 Trophy only two weeks ago, and they have already achieved great performance with this car.

In fact they have set a new track record with the Megane RS 265 Trophy which managed to lap the Nurburgring Nordschleife track in Germany in 8 minutes 08 seconds with Laurent Hurgon (development driver at Renault Sport) behind the wheel.

Chevrolet has taken its latest generation sports car, the 2012 Corvette ZR1 to the famous Nurburgring race track in Germany, which they consider, like prety much everyone else, the ultimate validation for a car.

The results? well as you’ll see for yourself in the video below, the 2012 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 managed to lap the world’s most demanding track in a 7:19.63, which means more than 6.0 seconds faster than the old Corvette (7:26.40).

Here is the official video marking the French automaker’s new record set with the Peugeot EX1 on the Nurburgring.

Powered by two electric motors (125 kW each) delivering a total of 340 bhp (250 kW) and 240 Nm of torque, the Peugeot EX1 has managed to lap the Nurburgring – Nordschleife track in Germany which is 20.832 kilometres long and comprises of 73 bends in 9:01:338. This means the EX1 traveled at an average speed of 138,324 Km/h and it was around 50 seconds faster than the previous electric speed record (9:51.45) set in 2010.

Right before this year’s Geneva Motor Show, Bentley was informing us they have beaten the world speed record on ice after reaching 205,48 mph (330,695 Km/h) in a Supersports Convertible driven by Juha Kankkunen, on the frozen waters of the Baltic Sea.

But it seems like their record wasn’t meant to last for too long, as an Audi RS6 model equipped with Nokian Tires has recently set a new Guinness record, after averaging a top speed of 206,06 mph (331,610 Km/h) on a 14 Km long ice trak in the Gulf of Bothnia in Oulu, Finland.

The British company is introducing the Bentley Supersports Ice Speed Record Convertible, the ‘most potent and radically styled’ model which celebrates the automaker’s world ice speed record recently achieved with the help of Juha Kankkunen.

With power provided by a twin-turbo 6.0-litre 12-cylinder biofuel-burning engine, the Bentley Supersports Ice Speed Record Convertible produces 640 PS (631 bhp / 471 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft of torque), all of which get sent to te car’s all-wheel-drive system via a Quickshift 6-speed automatic transmission.
