Volkswagen XL1 video
VW has also published a set of videos with the Volkswagen XL1 Concept which will be seen in the flesh at this year’s Qatar Motor Show between 26 – 29 January.
The Volkswagen XL1 represents an evolution of the 1-litre car first presented in 2002 and the L1 showed in 2009, with this latest prototype being to most efficient, as it needs less than 1-litre of feul, 0.9-litres to be exact, to cover 100 Kilometers.
Volkswagen XL1 Concept
The German automaker has just revealed photos and details with the Volkswagen XL1 which is a concept that is going to be unveiled at the Qatar Motor Show tomorrow.
The Volkswagen XL1 Concept is part of the automaker’s 1-litre car strategy, and under its futuristic looking, aerodynamic body, the powertrain is composed from a plug-in hybrid system which includes a two cylinder TDI engine rated at 48 PS (35 kW), an electric motor developing an additional 27 PS (20 kW) and a lithium-ion battery.
Aston Martin V8 Vantage S
Aston Martin is expanding their V8 Vantage lineup with the addition of the S version, which is model featuring ‘enhanced dynamics’.
The Aston Martin V8 Vantage S extracts power from the same 4.7-litre V8 producing 430 bhp (436 PS, 321 kW) and 490 Nm (361 lb-ft) of torque, which this time is coupled to a newly developed Sportshift II transmission with seven short ratio gears.
Ferrari FF new photos
The Prancing Horse has published new photos with the Ferrari FF, some of which show the company’s first four-wheel drive model during winter testing. We also get to see how the Pininfarina designed model looks in an elegant Grigio Ferro Met. grey.
As a reminder the Ferrari FF extracts power from a 6.3-litre V12 producing 660 horsepower and 683 Nm of torque and requires just 3.7 seconds to accelerate from nought to 100 Km/h.
Volkswagen Race Touareg 3 video
The Volkswagen Race Touareg 3 video comes courtesy of Henry Catchpole, journalist at EVO Magazine, who took the Dakar winning off-road racer for a drive in rather unusual condition. As you can see they have replaced the desert’s hot dunes with snow covered surfaces, which do not seem to bother the Volkswagen Race Touareg 3 at all.
The Volkswagen Race Touareg 3 uses a 2.5-litre TDI diesel engine producing 300 HP and 442 lb-ft of torque which get put to work by a five-speed sequential gearbox.
Kylie Minogue promotes Lexus CT 200h
Singer Kylie Minogue will appear im cross media publicity as part of a partnership with Lexus which will promote the launch of the new Lexus CT 200h.
Lexus says they chose Kyle due to the fact that both the singer and the new CT 200h can be described by the same words, which are elegant, contemporary and chic.
Cross media publicity means that Kylie Minogue will be part of the ‘Quiet Revolution’ marketing campaign, as well as TV commercials and print advertisements for the Lexus CT 200h.
Video: Truck Avoids Crushing Car
The people inside the car from which this video was shot had a near death experience after a truck filled with tree logs avoided crushing them by an inch.
We have to notice the truck’s excessive high speed, considering the snowy circumstances, and we hope it all ended well, and that its drivers managed to stop it safely or regain its control.
A car which was parked on the side of the road did receive a ‘bump’, but from what the footage shows, no one was inside it at that time.
Alfa Romeo 4C GTA Concept
Around a year ago, we were reporting about the Alfa Romeo 4C, a limited edition model inspired by the 8C with a 4-cylinder supercharged engine under its bonnet rated at 250 HP.
Rumors referring to an 8C Competizione inspired model are now back, this time mentioning the Alfa Romeo 4C GTA which is a concept expected to premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
This time power is provided by a 1.7-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged plant, which will enable the Alfa Romeo 4C GTA Concept to develop 265 horses.
Opel Astra OPC info
The Brits from Autocar have published a pair of photos with the upcoming Opel Astra OPC, which will be badged as the Vauxhall Astra VXR in UK, taken from a presentation brochure.
The Opel Astra OPC will enter the hot-hatch segment as a serious competitor for the Renault 250, and is expected to pack no less than 300 horsepower, which means 50 additional horses from its petrol burning engine, when compared to the previous generation.
2012 Mazda2 EV
Development for the 2012 Mazda2 EV has been confirmed yesterday by the Japanese car maker who announced that electric version subcompact will be leased on the company’s home market starting from spring 2012.
The 2012 Mazda2 EV which will be badged as the Demio in Japan, is expected to have a driving range of close to 200 Km, and the car is part of the automaker’s ‘Building Block Strategy’ which aims at developing more efficient engines and transmissions as well as reducing weight.
