2013 Lincoln MKZ Teaser
Ford will rejuvenate the Lincoln brand through a concept that will be unveiled during the second press day at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.
This concept will preview the 2013 Lincoln MKZ and is expected to feature get a fresh identity in order to further distinguish itself from the Ford badged products.
The upcoming Lincoln MKZ concept can already be seen in this first teaser image released by the automaker, and one aspect that pops into focus in terms of design is the full-width tail lamp.
Smart for-us Concept: Detroit 2012
The 2012 North American International Auto Show is opening its doors to the press today, so Smart decided to release a few extra photos and details with their Detroit bound concept, the ‘for-us’.
smart CEO Dr. Annette Winkler says “We at smart love pick-ups – if they are small on the outside, large on the inside, very safe and extremely comfortable. With the smart for-us a petrol station is no longer required!”
2013 Dodge Dart Leaked Photos and Promo Video
Another major leakage that took place over the weekend involved the 2013 Dodge Dart which was revealed earlier than scheduled through 45 official photos and a promo video.
The new Dodge Dart will premiere at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show today, so here is what we know about it so far.
This 4-door sedan is based on the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, will be offered with with a choice of three engines – a 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo, a 2.0-liter Tigershark and a 2.4-liter MultiAir Tigershark and will include a 6-speed twin-cluth and a 9-speed automatic among the available transmission options.
Hyundai Veloster Turbo Leaked
It seems like maintaining the secrecy around an upcoming model until it is actually time to unveil it during one major event is becoming harder and harder. A new example of that is the 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo which was leaked online before its actual debut scheduled for the 2012 NAIAS.
We already knew that the Veloster Turbo is going to be fitted with a 1.6-litre unit featuring a twin-scroll turbocharger and a direct fuel injection system, due to the fact that the South Korean company has published some details on this matter a while ago. This plant is going to develop 204 HP at 6,000 rpm and 265 Nm at 1,750 rpm, so it will be interesting to find out what will these figures mean in terms of accelerating from 0 to 62 mph and top speed.
Volkswagen E-Bugster Electric Concept
The Volkswagen E-Bugster will be properly unveiled at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show today, but until that happens here are some photos and details with this electric concept which pays homage to the 2005 Ragster concept.
The Volkswagen E-Bugster is based on the new generation Beetle, but in this case the car is 7.4 cm lower due to its lower roof line and with propulsion offered by a system composed from an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack. The motor delivers 114 horses (85 kW) and 270 Nm (199 lb-ft) of torque and enables the car to travel around 100 miles before having to recharge.
2013 Ford Fusion, Fusion Hybrid and Fusion Energi
As the 2012 Detroit Auto Show kicks off the Blue Oval has revealed photos and details with their new generation Ford Fusion, “the first sedan to offer gasoline, hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, each with expected top fuel economy”.
The 2013 Ford Fusion comes with the automaker’s latest technologies, such as the Lane Keeping System, adaptive cruise control, active park assist and MyFord Touch, will feature auto start stop along with automatic and manual transmission choices.
2013 Cadillac ATS revealed in Detroit
GM has unveiled their BMW 3 Series competitor, the 2013 Cadillac ATS. The car is based on a new, lightweight, RWD architecture which enables it to weight less than 3,400 lbs (1,542 Kg) and it will go on sale this summer.
Described as a “blend of technologically driven performance, elegance and design” the 2013 Cadillac ATS measures has been “designed with quick, nimble and fun-to-drive dynamics” and it “expands Cadillac’s portfolio into a crucial global segment”.
Mercedes and Pioneer Create Project-X DJ van
Mercedes has collaborated with Pioneer Great Britain and developed the ‘ultimate DJ van’, something which they call the Project-X.
The Project-X is based on the Mercedes Vito 122CDI Sport-X Dualiner which extracts power from the range-topping turbo-charged 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine, producing 224hp and 440 Nm so this van isn’t only loud, but it is also fast as it can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 8.3 seconds and can hit a top speed of 122mph.
Suzuki Grand Vitara SZ-T
Suzuki has launched a special edition Grand Vitara limited to 500 exemplars in the UK.
Badged as the SZ-T this latest model is based on the 5-door version equipped with the 1.9DDiS engine and comes with ‘exclusive’ features such as metallic paint, a newly designed front grille, new design 18 inch alloy wheels, contrasting seat fabric, silver coloured roof rails and bonnet side vents, door mirrors with built in turn signal and a tailgate mounted spare wheel.
2012 Renault Megane Facelift
It seems that as we’ve stepped into the new year, automakers are rushing to introduced revamped versions of their existing models, in order to keep their products competitive and up to date with the latest trends and mechanical innovations.
The latest company to apply a facelift one one of its models is Renault who decided to enhance its Megan range externally by fitting it with LED daytime running lights, various chromed and glossy black elements, re-designed whees and new body colour choices (Majorelle Blue and Pearlescent White).
