Volkswagen revealed the extended online version of their 2012 Super Bowl commercial, with a shorter 60 second version expected to be aired during the second quarter of the Big Game.
The ad is titled "The Dog Strikes Back" and presents the story of a dog named Bolt inspired by the 2013 Volkswagen Beetle, who gets into shape by exercising and eating less in order to be able to chase after the new ‘bug’ (a subtle hint on how the new Beetle is lighter yet more agile than the previous generation).
Surprisingly however, the clip ends with a sly wink toward last year’s Star Wars themed ad called "The Force" which gathered close to 50 million views on YouTube. The last 15 seconds take place at the Cantina, introduced in Star Wars Episode IV, and we don’t want to spoil all the fun, but we have to mention that Darth Vader is also making a special appearance.
