Back in February last year, Kia was introducing a coupe concept called Ray at the Chicago Auto Show. Today, they have unveiled a new compact with the same name (inspired from the English world which means ‘a beam of radiant energy or light’), that will be sold exclusively on the automaker’s home market, Korea.

This Kia Ray compact aims to provide versatility and spaciousness in a boxy shaped body with a ‘modern’ and ‘distinctive’ appearance, with some of the elements including Kia’s signature grille, LED daytime running lights, a sliding passenger side rear door, vertically positioned rear bumper reflectors and LED combination taillamps.

Ford has applied a facelift to their seven-passenger crossover – the Flex.

This 2013 version which will be exhibited at the Los Angeles Auto Show next week comes with a slightly restyled front end, a more refined interior and the automaker’s latest in terms of technology.
Apart from the latest version of MyFord Touch, the 2013 Ford Flex facelift also received safety features such as adaptive cruise control, the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), rain-sensing wipers, active park assist and even inflatable seat belts for the rear passengers. These seat belts take just 40 milliseconds to inflate upon impact.

The Suzuki stand at the Tokyo Motor Show this year will exhibit no less than three new concepts.

These are the Suzuki Regina the Q and the Swift EV Hybrid, each in accordance with their stand’s theme – “small cars for a big future”. These new concepts are all about fuel economy, user friendliness, innovation, performance and styling within small dimensions, and point to the path the automaker wants to follow in the near future and the more distant future.

A week from today Volvo will unveil a limited edition version of the C70 at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Dubbed the Volvo C70 Inscription this version comes with a black painted grille, black 18 inch wheels, Sovereign Hide upholstery and a dashboard covered in leather.

There are only two colours available for the exterior, and these are Black Sapphire (Metallic) and Ice White (Solid) while under the bonnet the Swedish convertible features a turbocharged 5-cylinder T5 unit capable of producing 250 horses and 273 lb-ft of torque.

Another world premiere in the world of tuning, this time from Lorinser who took a break from upgrading Mercedes Benz models and customised an Infinity for a change.

Their creation, which is based on the Infiniti FX will be showcased at the Essen Motor Show this year and it features ‘stylish coordinated components’ such as a new front apron that integrates LED daytime running lights, new side skirts, a roof spoiler for increased downforce plus a revamped rear bumper that integrates the two double tailpipes.

Italian company Vygor, known for its ‘SUV GT’ called the Opera 1 unveiled last month, is introducing a new design for the same car.

This time the SUV is dubbed the Opera 2 and instead of looking ‘aggressive and original’ like the first variant, Vygor decided to make it appear ‘elegant and exclusive’. If this second look still doesn’t covert you into a customer, them Vygor suggests visiting their style center when you could design your own ‘unique Opera’.

This year’s International Motr Show in Dubai will host a world premiere from Startech who announced its plans of unveiling a customisation program for the new Range Rover Evoque.

Apart from fitting the car with a set of 21 inch forged wheels and lowering its suspension by 35 mm, their refinement program also includes OEM quality body components such as redesigned bumpers for a more dynamic appearance, a new diffuser and unique tailpipes that can be combined with either the production exhaust or with Startech’s stainless steel rear muffler.

Superchips has done it again, they have managed to squeeze more power through an ECU remapping program which this time applies to the Abarth 500.

This way the sporty Italian mini which packs 133 bhp as standard, becomes even sportier thanks to 22 additional bhp and 46 extra Nm which get developed at 5,654 rpm and 2,942 rpm respectively.

These new performance figures obtained by the 1.4-litre turbocharged engine fitted in the Superchips Abarth 500 were dyno tested and have no negative impact on consumption.

Nissan has offered detailed information for the 2012 MY Nissan GT-R, a version which comes with improvements under the bonnet, but also with a revised chassis and transmission.

With sales expected to start on November 24th in Japan and in January 2012 in Europe, the 2013 Nissan GT-R produces 20 additional horses and 20 extra Nm when compared to the previous variant, meaning the total new output is 550 PS at 6,400 rpm and 632 Nm of torque from 3,200 to 5,800 rpm.
