Top Gear: 10 Million Facebook Fans – Caravan Explodes
Top Gear promised to blow up a caravan if their Facebook page would reach 10 million fans. Well the 10 millionth like has occurred, and the caravan has exploded 🙂
The Stig who is seen driving a Vauxhall VXR8 GTS was tasked with “pressing the button” that caused the caravan to end up in pieces, so there you go, you have something new to feast your eyes on before the new series kicks off on January 29.
2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Spied Undisguised
It looks like we have an unplanned early unveil of the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe, as spied photos that reveal the Korean automaker’s next generation SUV without camouflage have just surfaced online.
The new Santa Fe which will be badged the ix45 on certain markets, will premiere at the New York Auto Show in April, and as these photos show, its design is now more refined and brought in line with the rest of the range. Some of the restyled elements include the hexagonal grille, the newly designed headlamps and fog lights plus the taillights which seem to incorporate LEDs.
Jeep Grand Cherokee Production-Intent Concept
Jeep has unveiled a production-intenet concept version Grand Cherokee at this year’s Houston Auto Show, for which the naming will be decided via an online contest called “Name My Ride”.
Participants will be able to submit their choices at Jeep.com/namemyride with the top three names entering a final round of voting, and with the winning name expected to be announced in May. The person who suggests the winning name will have a change to win a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Kia Rio 3-door UK Price
Kia is launching its first ever 3-door version Kia Rio in the UK, with customers already able to oder the new B-segment hatch from showrooms.
The Kia Rio 3-door is priced at 9,995 GBP, 600 GBP less than the equivalent 5-door version, and is offered with the same engines and equipment grades as the 5-door.
The engine range includes two petrols, a 1.25-litre Kappa unit producing 83 bhp and 121 Nm of torque, a 1.4-litre Gamma plant rated at 107 bhp and 137 Nm of torque, plus two diesels which are a 1.1-litre CRDi developing 74 bhp and 170 Nm and a 1.4-litre CRDi outputting 89 bhp and 220 Nm.
Vorsteiner Ferrari 458 and BMW 5 Series F10
The Americans from Vorsteiner are showcasing their latest wheel design part of their VS-120 Series for 2012.
These new super-light 5-spoke design monoblock wheels were created with the latest spoke scalloping and undercutting technology that maximizes strength and weight ratios, and as the photos show, look really good on both the Ferrari 458 Italia as well as the new generation BMW 5 Series F10.
BMW M550d, X5 M50d and X6 M50d Performance Diesels Revealed
The Bavarian automaker has revealed their new M Performance range comprising of four diesel models : the BMW M550d the X5 M50d and the X6 M50d.
All these models which by the way, will not be available in the US, are equipped with the all-new tri-turbo inline-six 3.0-litre diesel featuring common-rail direct injection with piezo injectors which produces 381 HP (280 kW) at 4,000 – 4,400 rpm and 740 Nm (546 lb-ft) of torque at 2,000 – 3,000 rpm.
2013 BMW X6 Facelift
Here are the first official details with the facelifted generation BMW X6, a model which will goon sale in Spring that marks the introduction of a new diesel engine under the M50d badge as part of the M Performance Series.
This engine is a 3.0-litre inline-six diesel featuring three turbochargers which will deliver 381 HP and 740 Nm (546 lb-ft) of torque at only 2,000 rpm, but which will not be available in the USA.
The USA lineup will include the same power units as before, meaning a 4.4-litre turbocharged V8 rated at 400 HP in the xDrive50i and a 300 HP 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six, with both engines spinning the wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
ABT 2012 Audi A4
ABT is introducing its new AS4 tuning program for the latest generation Audi A4.
Hans-Jurgen Abt, the company’s founder said “The A4 is an important car for us, too. It always re-defines the premium standard for medium-sized cars,” “Our AS4 is definitely state-of-the-art. It combines sportiness and assertiveness”.
Adriana Lima, Motley Crue and Chuck Liddell in Kia Super Bowl XLVI Ad
Kia Motors America announced that their ad for this year’s Super Bowl XLVI is titled “Drive the Dream” and will promote the new 2012 Optima Limited.
The 60 seconds commercial will air during the fourth quarter of Super Bowl, and the whole idea behind is “tapping into the idea of dreams revealing true desires”.
The ad will show a 2012 Kia Optima Limited racing through a Gen X couple’s thoughts and as they sleep, with some of the thoughts involving Victoria Secret Super Model Adriana Lima waving a checkered flag, Motley Crue, part of the Rock Legends in an in-your-face concert and MMA legend Chuck Liddell fighting in the ring.
Video: Snow Storm Causing Automotive Carnage
You’ve certainly seen these types of videos before showing how unprepared drivers and authorities can sometimes be in certain parts of the US where the winter season is associated with snow storms, icy roads, reduced visibility etc.
This latest one was shot in Bountiful, Utah on January 21st and has already attracted over 1 million views on YouTube by showing how an inclined road covered with snow can become the perfect arena for a demolition derby involving sedans, SUVs, pick-up trucks, MPVs and even a snow truck.
