NIssan Patrol sets world record for pulling a heavy plane
The Nissan Patrol Challenge reached its grand finale today with a new Guinness World Record set by the unstoppable Hero of All Terrain. In the presence of His Excellency Dr. Ghanem Alhajiri, Chairman of Sharjah International Airport, Nissan Patrol became the holder of the “heaviest object pulled by any production vehicle” Guinness World Record and notched up another historic milestone for illustrious heritage. The event, held at Sharjah International Airport, United Arab Emirates, saw an unmodified production Nissan Patrol haul a 170.9 ton cargo plane, inclusive of weight of the plane, fuel and the cargo for over 50 meters, smashing the previous record by 15 tons.

Volkswagen stand at 2013 IAA Frankfurt
The Volkswagen brand will be present at the 65th International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt am Main from September 12-22 with almost 9,000 square metres of exhibition space in Hall 3.0. The brand highlights are the world premiere of the e-Golf and the new Golf R, plus one further model. Apart from “Think Blue.†the main themes at the stand are 4MOTION (four-wheel drive) and the WRC (World Rally Championship).

Tesla Model S ranks highest in NHTSA crash-tests
Independent testing by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has awarded the Tesla Model S a 5-star safety rating, not just overall, but in every subcategory without exception. Approximately one percent of all cars tested by the federal government achieve 5 stars across the board. NHTSA does not publish a star rating above 5, however safety levels better than 5 stars are captured in the overall Vehicle Safety Score (VSS) provided to manufacturers, where the Model S achieved a new combined record of 5.4 stars.

BMW Concept5 eDrive unveiled ahead of Frankfurt
The new BMW X5 raises efficiency to another new level in the world of the luxurious Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV). BMW is using the 2013 Frankfurt International Motor Show (IAA) to present the logical next step towards landmark efficiency in the SAV segment. The BMW Concept X5 eDrive combines the brand of driving pleasure for which the xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system is renowned and a luxurious ambience within the variable-use interior with a plug-in hybrid drive concept. Its innovative BMW eDrive technology guarantees the hallmark sporting ability of a BMW, while at the same time opening the door to speeds of up to 120 km/h (75 mph), a maximum range of 30 kilometres (19 miles) on electric power alone and average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle of 3.8 litres per 100 kilometres.

Mercedes S500 Plug-in Hybrid introduced
The third hybrid model of the new S-Class, the S 500 PLUG-IN HYBRID, sets new benchmarks with regard to efficiency as well as drive-system and climate comfort. With CO2 emissions of 69 g/km and returning 94.2 mpg the S-Class sets a new benchmark for luxury saloons that just a few years ago was thought virtually impossible.
