Ssangyong XIV 1 Concept
The Koreans from SsangYong will present their interpretation of a premium CUV through a concept called the XIV 1 which will be unveiled at the rapidly approaching Frankfurt Motor Show.
The Ssangyong XIV 1 Concept was designed based on concepts such as “joy of travel,” “setting up a new culture of driving,” and “space for communication on the road” and based on the automakers claims, it represents their “strategic model for the global market”.
We don’t know what’s under the bonnet yet, but its design featuring suicide doors, a wraparound windscreen, no B pillars, sleek looking headlamps and a full-glass roof, make the car look rather interesting.
Audi A2 Concept Preview
The Ingolstadt based four ringed automaker is previewing yet another concept ahead of its official premiere at the 2011 IAA in Frankfurt.
This time we are being presented with a few sketches that show a concept through which Audi plans to revive the A2 name.
The car is a pure-electric measuring just 3.80 meters (12.47 ft) in length, 1.69 meters (5.54 ft) in width and 1.49 meters (4.89 ft) in height which is powerful and sporty yet also elegant, with some of its features including a dark glass roof which can become transparent at the push of a button.
Smart Forvision
Smart and BASF, the world’s largest chemical company have developed a new electric concept called the Forvision which will be showcased at the IAA in Frankfurt this month.
The car makes use of an electric powertrain and features a series of energy-saving technologies like an solar roof which feeds power back into the lithium-ion batteries, an energy saving heating system, and windows covered with a special film which keep the cabin nice an cool.
ABT Audi RS3 Sportback
There’s no such thing as enough power, especially for tuners who always consider increasing the output on models who are already very capable in terms of performance even as standard.
This also goes true for engineers working at ABT Sportsline who prepared two new performance package for the Audi RS3 Sportback.
The kits consists of a 2-pipe stainless steel exhaust system or a custom turbocharger plus a modified motor management system and both enabling the standard 2.5-litre 5-cylinder engine deliver either 420 HP (309 kW) or 470 HP (346 kW) and 630 Nm of torque.
VW NILS Concept
The Germans from Volkswagen have prepared a nice surprise for this year’s International Motor Show in Frankfurt…is is called the VW NILS and it is an electric concept which resembles with the Urban Sportback and Spyder prototypes revealed by Audi not too long ago.
Unlike Audi’s concepts, the VW NILS is a single seater vehicle measuring 3.04 m in length, 1,39 m in width and 1,20 m in height, whose main purpose is, yet again, to offer mobility in urban areas.
2012 Honda Civic Teaser
We have more new involving Honda, who in this particular instance revealed an initial teaser image with the Euro spec 2012 Civic.
The image shows the rear section of the 5-door hatch, with the focal point concentrating on the taillight design, and a small section of the rear spoiler.
Honda says the rear combination light works as a spoiler, plus almost all of the car’s body components have been redesigned in order to improve ride quality and handling, and also reduce CO2 emissions.
2012 Honda Insight Facelift
The Japanese from Honda are previewing their Geneva bound 2012 Honda Insight, a car which will be seen live in around 11 days from today when the 2011 IAA will officially open its doors to visitors.
This facelift version 2012 Honda Insight wants to underline its commitment to reducing emissions by featuring a new CO2 level of only 96 grammes per Km, as it wants to undermine its rival’s supremacy in this segment, and we’re talking about the Toyota Prius which continues to be incredibly popular.
Land Rover DC100 Defender Concept
Land Rover has just unveiled two photos with their Frankfurt bound DC100 Defender Concept, a car which according to the automaker, will investigate a potential future direction for their iconic off-roader.
Developed by a team led by Gerry McGovern, the Land Rover DC100 Defender Concept features a functional and purposeful design, building uppon the essential elements of the car’s character and with this occasion the automaker has also announced that a production version of the new generation Defender will enter the market in 2015.
2012 Audi S6 and S6 Avant
If you thought the 2012 S8 and the 2012 S7 are the only new models on Audi’s menu at the 64th edition Frankfurt Motor Show, then you are wrong, because the four-ringed automaker has also unveiled the 2012 S6 and S6 Avant iterations of the A6.
Both the 2012 Audi S6 and S6 Avant extract their juice from the same 4.0-litre TFSI twin-turbo V8 found in the new S7, which means output levels sit at 420 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque (405 lb-ft), in this cased developed between 1,400 and 5,300 rpm via a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.
2012 Audi S7
Apart from the 2012 Audi S8, the Ingolstadt based automaker has also unveiled the 2012 Audi S7, a sportier version of the standard model which will…you guessed it, premiere at the 2011 IAA in Frankfurt on September 13th.
The 2012 Audi S7 extract power from a 4.0-litre TFSI twin-turbocharged V8 which according to the German automaker will generate 420 HP and 550 Nm (405.7 lb-ft) of peak torque. As you will note, this is a less powerful version (100 HP less) of the 4.0-litre 8-cylinder engine found in the new S8, but nevertheless performance figures are still impressive as the 2012 Audi S7 can rocket from nought to 62 mph (0 to 100 Km/h) in 4.9 seconds and is capable of reaching a top speed of 155 mph (255 Km/h) / electronically limited.
