Opel’s presence at this year’s IAA Frankfurt Motor Show is marked by the premiere of the RAK e Concept. This rakish looking, lightweight model is an affordable EV which tips the scale at only 380 Kg and is able to cover 60 miles with no tailpipe emissions.

The Opel RAK e Concept can also travel at a maximum speed of 75 mph, all of this thanks to a 5kWh battery which provides 49 PS of peak power, with at least 14 PS being constantly available.

Based RAK e is based on a steel spaceframe beneath a body formed from a conventional synthetic material, and just like Audi’s Urban Concept, it tries to provide a solution for mobility in metropolitan areas.

The Blue Oval premiered the Ford Fiesta ST Concept today at the 2011 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show. The high-performance Fiesta points to a future production model, with everything on the car already looking production ready.

With the Ford Fiesta ST the automaker wants to continue the Fiesta’s 35 year history of small but powerful cars, with power provided in this case by a 1.6-litre turbocharged EcoBoost engine capable of outputting 180 PS and 240 Nm of torque.

A few days ago a presented a teaser video with the Volvo Concept You. Well, we have now received full photos and details with this car (followed from the Concept Universe) which offers an insight into future Volvo Cars in terms of design.

Toyota has introduced he new Prius family at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show today. This refers to the new Prius Plug-in Hybrid, the Prius+ 7-passenger MPV and the revised Prius. Toyota has also announced its plans of introducing 10 new hybrids by 2015.

The Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid represents the latest development of the company’s modular Hybrid Synergy Drive platform (HSD) which in this case produces 134 bhp from a lithium-ion battery with a high capacity of 4.4kWh and a weight of only 80kg that is mated to a petrol engine.

Another facelift model introduced by Toyota in Frankfurt is the 2012 Hilux, with the revised pickup benefiting from an updated design and cleaner engines.

The main changes at the exterior have targeted the front section, which according to the company is now completely new from the A pillar forwards. The 2012 Toyota Hilux features new lines that are more curved, like the ones on an SUV, and it includes a new bonnet, a trapezoid shaped grille, revised headlamps with highly visible turn indicators, and a new front bumper which adopts a large air intake flanked by the foglamp housings.

Toyota has premiered the revised 2012 Toyota Avensis in Frankfurt today and announced the fact that this third-generation model is now more spacious, more practical and more fuel efficient.

The car was designed and engineered in Europe, with production scheduled to take place at the automaker’s Burnaston plant in UK.

The 2012 Toyota Avensis look bolder and more dynamic when compared to the previous version, with the overall dimension remaining unchanged. The key points in terms of design are the front where the new Avensis adopts the family ‘face’, through the redesigned upper grille and the larger, more aggressive looking lower grille, plus the headlamps which now incorporate LEDs. The automaker has also revamped the front and rear bumpers, the fog lamps and added new alloy designs.

This year’s 2011 IAA Motorshow will be the host for the most extreme Gallardo ever made, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale.

Limited to only 150 exemplars, the car will feature a number of enhancements, with the most important ones being made in terms of aerodynamics and weight reduction.

The Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale tips the scale at 72 kilos below the standard version, featuring a total mass of 1,339 Kg, while its enormous, manually variable rear spoiler increases the aerodynamic load and enables better stability during fast speed driving.

The production versions Ford Focus ST Hatchback and Wagon have just been unveiled by the North American company ahead of their official debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.

According to Ford the 5-door ST hatch represents a ‘global performance car’ meaning it will be sold all over the world, while the ST wagon will only destined for the European market.

Both models will extract power from a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine which will sen 250 HP and 360 Nm of torque to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. In terms of consumption and emissions the ST is around 20 percent more efficient than the previous Euro spec Focus ST, but the actual figures have not been specified yet.

Skoda has just unveiled photos and a few details with the Mission L as the Czech autuomaker’s new concept awaits its official premiere at the 2011 IAA Motorshow in Frankfurt tomorrow.

The Skoda Mission L is a close to production ready concept which previews a future compact model that will hit the European market, Russia and China in 2012. The car is expected to be delivered in India as well in late 2011, and the whole thing is part of the automaker’s growth aspirations.

After we published the first leaked image with the Seat IBL Concept, the Spanish car maker decided to officially unveil its Frankfurt bound sports saloon study.

According to James Muir, President of Seat, “The IBL shows that sports saloons within the SEAT brand portfolio will play an important role in future. However, this concept car does not pre-empt a specific model, but rather shows the design philosophy we are applying to bring the unmistakable SEAT identity to a saloon car, too.”
