This weekend in Daytona, Ferrari has held a special event. During the event, the Italian car manufacturer has sold the last LaFerrari unit which grabbed 7 million USD and also it revealed the all-new Ferrari 488 Challenge.

The model comes with the same V8 3,9 liter twin-turbo engine that delivers 661 horsepower. But thanks to some aerodynamic tweaks, the model is faster than the road-going version. After the engineers have stripped down the interior, the car is able to clock the Fiorano track in just  1:15.5.

This means that the Ferrari 488 Challenge is one second faster than the 458 Challenge Eco, seven and a half seconds faster than the 488 GTB and four seconds faster than LaFerrari. And all these were achieved with some great aerodynamic modifications and with racing slicks.

Launched in 1992 with the 348, the Ferrari Challenge is celebrates its 25th anniversary next year. Over the course of that quarter-century, the series has attracted over 1,000 drivers to take part in more than 1,000 races across three continents.
