Ludwig Willisch, CEO of BMW North America, has recently declared that the i3 electric will cost approximately 40.000 USD. If this seems to be very expensive you should know that there are changes to be eligible for a 7.500 USD federal tax credit.

This is just a rumor, because a BMW spokesman said that discussions with the government are not finalized.

The German car maker also wants to know if those who will opt for an i3 with the optional 0.65 liter, two cylinder motorcycle range extending engine will benefit from the full tax credit. The new BMW i3 and the i8 are scheduled to go on sale next spring.
