Jaguar has to bring something new in the upper medium segment and will introduce the new generation XF during next year Detroit Auto Show, scheduled to open its gates in January.
Design
The second generation XF will have to offer a sporty design, with new cues, borrowed from the smaller XE, launched this fall during Paris Motor Show.  The new generation XF will grow in size, being longer and wider, but despite this will be 100 kilograms (220 pounds) easier than the current generation. All thanks to a new platform called iQ[Al].
As its name suggest, the platform will include lots of aluminum elements. The increased length and wider will also assume a longer wheelbase, set to benefit the rear passengers legroom. The trunk will also increase in volume.
Engine
As its smaller brother, the second generation XF will stop using the Ford engines and will adopt Jaguar`s own engine range, called Ingenium. The new engines will be up to 80 kilograms (176 pounds) easier and will be mostly four-cylinder units that we already see on the XE.
There are also V6 scheduled, and a flagship XFR-S developed by Jaguar Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) and ready to use a V8 unit. The petrol engine will be capable of delivering 600 hp.
Availability
Deliveries fo the new generation XF will begin next fall and will be followed shortly by the XF Sportbrake variant in 2016.
