After the unveiling of the new Passat Variant, Volkswagen has published the first pictures and details of the third generation Tiguan.

The new SUV is based on the same MQB Evo platform and, as you would expect, it is slightly bigger compared to the current one. Volkswagen hasn’t disclose all the details, but we do know the engine line-up.

Just like the Passat, the new Tiguan will be offered with petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid. The base version will use a 1.5 liter petrol unit with mild-hybrid system. It has 150 horsepower. The next in line if you are a gasoline-powered fan it the 2.0 liter TSI with 201 HP or 262 HP. The last one will come also with an all-wheel drive system.

The top of the line will be the plug-in hybrid variant. It will be available in two versions: 201 horsepower or 268 HP. Both versions are based on the 1.5 liter petrol unit and a 19.7 kWh battery pack which will give around 100 kilometres of electric range.
