Volkswagen enjoys another quarter in front of its rivals. The German manufacturer managed to have again in its range the best car sold in Europe. We are talking about the current generation Golf, a real success as we learn today that the compact car retained its position as the top selling model in the third quarter of this year. And that, despite a 17% decline in sales versus last year.

A statistic conducted by Jato also showed that Audi was the only brand to end the third quarter of 2012 with a sales increase of up to 6% regarding the same period last year. All thanks to the success of A1, A6 and Q3 models.

The Volkswagen Golf still leads the European market, despite sales for the quarter falling by 17.2% compared to 2011. The podium is completed by Ford Fiesta, who came in second, and Opel/Vauxhall Corsa on third place. Toyota’s new Yaris rounds off the top ten European models in September with an impressive 68.6% increase in sales last month, compared to September 2011.

Compared to September 2011, other models, new or revised, like the Hyundai i20, Kia’s Rio and new Cee’d, Honda’s new Civic, Land Rover’s Evoque and Subaru’s new XV, enjoyed improved sales.
