Autocar’s latest short review features the three door version Kia Picanto, a vehicle which appeals to those who are willing to trade in a little practicality for a lot more style.
The version tested by Autocar is the 1.25 Halo EcoDynamics which features a 4-cylinder 1248cc petrol engine capable of producing 84 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 89 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm via a 5-speed manual transmission.
The Picanto 3rd weights 845 Kg and its 0 to 60 mph acceleration time and top speed are 11 seconds and 106 mph respectively. Kia claims this version will do 65.7 mpg in a combined cycle while its emission levels are 100 grammes per Km.
According to Autocar the Picanto 3dr is surprisingly good in terms of performance due to its 84 horses, and not only does it ride well, but it is also quite fun to steer through the corners. So the chassis is well balanced while the interior makes use of good quality materials. What does this all mean in terms of value for money.
Well despite the fact that it is extremely frugal, the Kia Picanto 3dr is quite expensive, with this particular model shown in this review costing 11,695 GBP, the mean reason for which the Picanto can not be called the leader in its segment.
