Introduced for the first time during this year Goodwood Festival of Speed, the new Range Rover Sport SVR model managed to score an impressive time on the famous Nurburgring.
With only 8 minutes and 14 seconds spent lapping the 22 kilometers of the Green Hell, the Range rover Sport SVR becamed the fastest SUV on Nurburgring.
The car that managed the performance is a stock Ranger rover Sport SVR, using a 5.0 liter V8 engine, delivering 550 hh. This means 40 hp more than the Supercharged version. The car also suffered some important modifications for the chassis to improve handling.
Mike Cross, Chief Engineer Vehicle Integrity, said: “The Nürburgring is a benchmark for vehicle development and testing, and cars become stronger, more durable and faster over its 13 miles and 70-plus corners. We wanted to see whether an SUV could behave like a performance car in this challenging environment. The results are spectacular and the Range Rover Sport SVR has demonstrated outstanding on-road performance capabilities.”
