You surely remember the Nissan Juke R, because all the automotive media outlets have reported on this crazy concept that featured the same powertrain as the Nissan GT-R. Well even though the company has initially stated that it will only build two of them (one in right-hand drive and one in let-hand drive), we are now being told that the Juke R will actually be produced in limited numbers.
We don’t know how many are going to get built because Nissan said the Juke R will represent a very limited run on build-to-order basis, and what’s also important is that this production version is going to be even more powerful than the concept.
That is because the concept used the engine and transmission from the 2010 GT-R, meaning it produced 485 bhp, whereas the limited run model will use the updated drivetrain from the 2012 GT-R. This means it will top out at 545 HP and 463 lb-ft of torque.
"The Juke-R was originally intended as a one-off concept to marry two of
Nissan’s most innovative models. But the reaction we had to the car in
Dubai was amazing – people were making offers for the original on the
street!
With such a strong reaction, and with three genuine offers on the table, we decided we had to make the car a reality. We can’t let down enthusiasts who are this keen to add to their collection of cars. The Juke-R has become something of a phenomenon and I’m enormously proud of the impact it has had. There will be more news to come on Juke later in the year."
Apart from making this announcement, Nissan has also released a short film called Desert Nemesis in which we get to see the Juke R taking on supercars such as the 458 Italia, the SLS AMG and Lamborghini Gallardo.
