We’ve came across information that says Mini is planning to launch the Mini Cooper S Diesel in 2011.
The Mini Cooper S Diesel will be a performance version which will offer 143 HP and 300 Nm of torque, and its powerplant is developed based on BMW’s N47 unit that has a 1.6-litre capacity. This new engine producing 143 HP will not only be used on the Mini Cooper S Diesel but also on the Countryman model, although the news has not been officially confirmed by the automaker.
As far as fuel consumption the Mini Cooper S Diesel is expected to need between 4 and 4.5-litres per 100 Km, while CO2 emissions will probably be below 110 grams per Km.
The same source reports that the Mini Cooper S Diesel price will be around 26,000 Euros and that public debut will take place at this year’s Paris Motor Show.
If these rumors are true then we will publish more details with the Mini Cooper S Diesel as soon as the company will make them available.
