Mercedes-Benz has published today the first official images and gives us a few details of the new GLA Concept. The A-Class based crossover will make its official debut this Saturday at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show.
The new GLA Concept has a bulging hood, a raked windscreen protection plates under the bumpers, roof rails and muscular wheel arches. There is also a dual exhaust and 20 inch alloy wheels. The front part is dominated by the huge grille and by the special headlights.
The GLA Concept measures 4.38 meters long, 1.97 meters wide, 1.57 meters tall and has a 2.69 wheelbase. The power comes from an inline four cylinder 2.0 liter engine borrowed from the A250. The unit comes with 211 horsepower and is mated to a 7G-DCT dual clutch gearbox.
The production version of the GLA Concept will probably borrow the engine lineup from its A-Class sibling. We will see a variety of 4 cylinder diesel and petrol engines.
The production version will be officially unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show that will take place in September.Source: Mercedes
