Motivated by the rising sales of the current Evoque, Land Rover officials envision a fleet enlargement in the next few years.

The announcement was made by Gerry McGovern, the brand’s design director itself. He recently declared that ”Land Rover thinks it can go even smaller. In a world focusing on sustainability you could argue that smaller and lighter is the way to go", McGovern said.

Since launching the Evoque last year, Land Rover has sold more than 90,000 copies, a very good start not even anticipated by the officials.

Land Rover decision comes after another premium brand favors this segment. Audi design boss Stefan Sielaff has floated the idea of a Q1 SUV, which would fit in below the compact-sized Q3. Only volume brands such as Fiat, Suzuki, Toyota offer subcompact-sized SUVs in Europe.
