Donkervoort has finally unveiled the new generation D8 GTO sports car after after two and a half years of development.
The Donkervoort D8 GTO was created in close collaboration with Audi with the four rings brand providing the engine for this new version, a 2.5-litre 5-cylinder TFSI unit tuned at 400 HP and 450 Nm of torque.
The D8 GTO weights 700 KG and its creators claim this is one of the fastest sports cars on the European market. We tend to believe them considering that half of the first 25 specially designed GTOs were sold within a few ours during the car’s first private preview. The best proof however are its performance figures which are nought to 100 Km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 3.0 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.
The Donkervoort D8 GTO features a steel tubular frame covered with large carbon composite panels, and apart from being slightly longer and wider than the previous model, the car has also received a revised undercarriage,  a front axle equipped with a new anti-roll bar and a newly designed rear axle.
The Donkervoort D8 GTO price will be between 100,000 Euro and 150,000 Euro (including taxes), with production scheduled to begin in 2012. The first ‘regular’ version will be seen on the European roads in 2013.
