Ford has published the first picture and details of the all-new global Ranger. The new pickup truck comes with some exterior cues that are currently found on the Maverick model.

Compared to the old generation, the new Ranger has a 50 mm extended wheelbase which means more space inside. The rear track has also been widened by 50 mm to create a more spacious loading area.

More than that, the new 2022 Ford Ranger will be available with a 3.0 liter V6 diesel engine. It will replace the old 2.5 liter inline-five and it will deliver more power and torque. Also, customers will be able to order the 2.2 liter diesel engine with one or two turbos. There are no details about the power output of the motors, but we expect to see numbers similar to the ones found on the old generation.

In some markets, the Ranger will be available with a petrol EcoBoost engine.

Customers will be able to pick from two four-wheel-drive setups, either an electronic shift-on-the-fly system or the more sophisticated full-time 4×4 system.

Ford sais it will start to asamble the new Ranger in early 2022 in its factories in Thailand and South Africa. For the Europeans, the order list will be opened in late 2022, while the deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2023.
