After we saw the new generation Caddy, its time for another world premiere from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. In fact, we are talking about a car that is both for transport and for family needs. It is the new generation Transporter or T5, as it is known inside the Wolfsburg development team.

Ahead of its official world premiere on 15 April 2015, Volkswagen has revealed a sketch of the sixth-generation Transporter. The car is based on the same platform as the current model, so don’t expect great improvement regarding the road feel and the driving dynamics.

The design will most probably share some lines with the Tristar concept, unveiled last fall during a IAA show in Germany. The interior will be updated not so much in terms of materials, but also in terms of connectivity. The car will offer all the latest technology we see on Volkswagen vehicles, except maybe the 12.1-inch color TFT screen that replaces the old instruments.

When it made its public debut in 1950, few could have predicted the enormous impact the Transporter would have in revolutionising the commercial vehicle market, creating an automotive icon in the process.
The sixth-generation Transporter will go on sale in the UK later this year.
