BMW will be presenting the Concept X5 Security Plus, which is an X5 wearing a very special armor.

What does this mean? Well, it means that this car is the only vehicle in its class that fulfills the requirements of protection level VR6. Also, VR6 represents a vehicle that is offering all-round protection against violent assault, kidnapping and organized crime.

As the carmaker put it in its press release, the main target are "risk-exposed private individuals and prominent public figures with enhanced security needs", people who live particularly in South America, Africa or Russia.

Even though, the armored model looks like any other X5 from the outside, there is a big difference between the two of them.

The BMW X5 Security Plus Concept protection prototype is based on an armored passenger cell made from high-performance steel moldings panels. Thanks to these materials, cell offers protection for up to 4 passengers from the world’s most popular firearm, the AK-47.

The vehicle also has security glass ( with polycarbonate coating) and sealed joints which provide protection specifically in the critical areas around doors or where panels adjoin body pillars, in order to bullet penetration.

In terms of power, BMW Concept X5 Security Plus features a powerful 330 kW/450 hp V8 petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology.
