The 2011 Peugeot 908 LMP1 is obviously linked to the old 908 which won the Le Mans back in 2009, but instead of using a V12, the new car is fitted with a 3.7-litre turbocharged V8 diesel which now sits at a 90 degrees angle, compared with 100 degrees in the case of the V12.
With this new engine the 2011 Peugeot 908 LMP1 delivers 550 HP is in accordance with the new regulations, and it packs almost 150 HP less that in 2010. Aerodynamic changes were also imposed, and as you can see the 2011 Peugeot 908 LMP1 features a closed cockpit and a median ‘fin’ along the rear just like the new Audi R18.
