Earlier today we promised to publish the new official photos with the Defender DC100, the new concept introduced in Frankfurt today by Land Rover along the DC100 Sport.
These models hint at what the 2015 Land Rover Defender will look like, with the concept versions being powered by 2.0-litre petrol or diesel engines featuring hybrid and plug-in capabilities. The Defender DC100 is also about presenting new advanced systems and testing advanced materials inspired from the aerospace industries.
These new systems are truly impressive and to mention just a few, they include terrain scanning in order to detect and warn of obstacles, or sonar to detect the water depth and suggest an appropriate speed with which to cross it.
The Land Rover Defender DC100 is also equipped with an intelligent all wheel drive system that decouples the rear axle when the environment does not require all four wheels to spin, in order to keep fuel consumption levels as low as possible.
The DC100 Concept uses an eight-speed gearbox and an Intelligent Start Stop system also designed for optimising consumption.
