Chevrolet has teamed up with the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center to develop a special military vehicle. And today it was revealed. Its name is Colorado ZH2 and features a rugged look and a special powertrain.

According to Chevrolet, this Colorado ZH2 comes with a hybrid powertrain. For now, the U.S-based car manufacturer hasn’t given any details about the power or the torque. The prototype comes with an upgraded suspension, with special 37 inch off-road tires and it can deliver water from its exhaust pipes.

Another important fact is that the Chevrolet Colorado ZH2 features an Exportable Power Take-Off. Soldiers could drive the truck into the wilderness and then remove fuel cell for a supply of electricity where it usually isn’t available. How cool is that?

“Over the next year, we expect to learn from the Army the limits of what a fuel cell propulsion system can do when really put to the test”, said Charlie Freese, executive director of GM Global Fuel Cell Activities.

We are expecting new details in the following weeks so don’t miss our posts.
