During this year International Vienna Motor Symposium, Audi will showcase its newest diesel engine. We are talking about a replacement for the old V6 3.0 liter diesel that was used to deliver two power versions for Audi models: one of 204 hp and another of 245 hp.

Thanks to new piston rings and pins optimized for minimal friction, separate coolant loops for the crankcase and the newly designed cylinder heads and its updated thermal management system, the engine can deliver more power, being also more economical.

This entry-level version of the V6 TDI can deliver 218 hp, while the top end version will jump to 272 hp and 600 Nm, 50 Nm more than the old version. Even so, the fuel consumption will drop to 13 percent less. All this thanks to the first combination of Nox storage catalytic converter with a diesel particulate filter and SCR injection. This way, the Germans ensured that the new engine respects the Euro 6 standard emissions.

Along the new engine, Audi also introduced a refreshed version of the S-tronic gearbox. According to Audi, the transmission can reduce CO2 emissions by 10 percent.
