At this year's 2011 New Work International Auto Show, Nissan will introduce the Nissan Leaf NISMO Racing Competition (RC), a car which is obviously based on the new 100 percent electric LEAF and which will bring a new meaning to the term 'Racing Gren'.

The Nissan Leaf NISMO Racing Competition racer will appear at various motorsport events in 2011, and through this car the Japanese company is exploring the development of the first zero emission competition spec series in the upcoming years.

You might not associate electric propulsion with serious power, but according the Nissan, the Leaf NISMO Racing Competition, which features 48 compact lithium-ion battery modules and a 80kW AC synchronous motor that generates 107 HP and 208 lb-ft of torque is able to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 Km/h) in 6.85 seconds. This electric racer is able to travel at speeds of up to 93 mph, can regain 80 percent of its full capacity in 30 minutes and is expected to run for around 20 minutes in full racing conditions.

The Nissan Leaf NISMO Racing Competition features a carbon fiber monocoque, a 3-piece bodykit with removable front and rear bumpers, fixed windows, LED headlights and tail lamps and an adjustable rear wing. The 2-door Leaf NISMO RC has a ground clearance of 2,4 inches, which is 3.9 inches lower than the road going version, weights a total of 2,068 lbs (40 percent less than the standard model) and is also wider (+6.7 inches), longer (+0,8 inches) and with a shorter wheelbase (-3.9 inches) than the standard Leaf.
