Lamborghini confirmed the fact that it will re-enter the 4×4 segment with a three-door SUV which will be unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show in April.
The new Lamborghini SUV will be called the MLC and it will represent the spiritual successor of the LM002. It will be based on a platform that is going to be used on the rest of VW Group’s crossovers, meaning the Q7, Cayenne, Touareg and the upcoming Bentley SUV, and its total kerb weight should be around 2000 Kg.
According to AutoExpress, the MLC will feature a 5.2-litre V10 placed at the front, the same which is found inside the Gallardo, but uprated to 584 bhp, but a hybrid model featuring an electric motor and a battery pack offering a total output of 600 bhp is also going to be offered.
The same source states that production for the Lamborghini MLC will begin in 2015 or 2016 and that the SUV’s estimated price tag will be around 200,000 USD. This means other competitors such as the Cayenne Turbo, BMW X6M and the upcoming Maserati Kubang will represent cheaper alternatives.
As for the four-door Estoque , AutoExpress says that Lamborghini is still playing with the idea of bringing it into production on a platform borrowed from the MLC.
