The new generation of Honda Civic Type R will arrive on the market on 2015 and will feature a brand-new 1.6 liter turbocharged engine that will produce more than 250 bhp.

This info was revealed by an inside source who also told AutoExpress that Honda is working on an eight-speed dual clutch automatic transmission, which could be offered with the new model.

Takanobu Ito, Honda CEO, confirmed at the 2012 Paris Motor Show that the Civic Type R will see the light in 2015, but he refused to give more details about the new hot hatch.

He also confirmed that his firm aims to make the new Type R the fastest front wheel drive model ever around Nurburgring. The record is currently held by the Renault Megane RS 265 Trophy with eight minutes and eight seconds. The inside source also told that Honda has no plans to build a three door Type R.
