The 2013 Lincoln MKS has been unveiled last night in Los Angeles, and the automaker says this new generation has been improved in pretty much every way possible, considering it is more powerful, it has better handling, it consumes less fuel and is offered with more standard equipment.

Starting with the engines, the 2013 Lincoln MKS is going to be available with either a 3.7-litre V6 rated at 300 HP and 275 lb-ft or a more powerful 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 delivering 355 horses and 350 lb-ft of torque.

The 3.7-litre engine can be coupled with FWD or AWD drivetrains, while the EcoBoost will exclusively be sold with AWD. Fuel consumption figures for the 300 HP version are 19 mpg and 28 mpg (slightly lower for the AWD variant 18 mpg city and 26 mpg highway), while the 355 HP model will return 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.

Other highlights regarding the 2013 Lincoln MKS include the fact that this model is the only one its segment to offer the Continuously Controlled Damping (CCD) as standard, plus it is equipped with the Lincoln Drive Control system which allows the driver to choose between 'Drive' and 'Sport' and adjusts the car's characteristics accordingly.

The new MKS also comes with significantly larger brake components for increased braking power and it is available with the new Lane Keeping Alert and Lane Keeping Aid technologies plus the SYNC system's functionality has been expanded through the addition of Operator Assist and Wi-Fi hotsport capabilities as standard.

In terms of styling the 2013 Lincoln MKS features a new grille, a redesigned engine bonnet, HID headlamps, a revamped rear fascia, LED taillights and new exhaust tips. The MKS sits on 19 or optional 20 inch aluminium alloys and at the interior customers will notice a new instrument panel, upgraded materials with genuine stitching and a range of new colour schemes.

The 2013 Lincoln MKS will arrive at dealerships this spring, and the assembly will take place at the automaker's plant in Chicago.
