VW has just announced the fuel economy figures for the 2012 Volkswagen Passat BlueMotion as the automaker’s eco friendly sedan is approaching its on-sale date in the UK (the end of July).
Based on the latest generation Passat, and unveiled at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the 2012 Volkswagen Passat BlueMotion is powered by a modified 1.6-litre common rail TDI diesel unit producing 105 HP via a 6-speed manual transmission. Apart from optimizing the car in terms of aerodynamics, VW has also fitted the 2012 Passat BlueMotion with low resistance tyres, a 15 mm lowered suspension a revised radiator grille and technologies like Start Stop and energy recuperation.
The clear result from taking all these measures is the fact that the 2012 Volkswagen Passat BlueMotion returns 68.9 mpg UK / 57.3 mpg US (4.1-litres per 100 Km) in saloon body style and 65.7 mpg UK / 54.7 mpg US (4.3-litres per 100 Km) as an Estate.
CO2 emissions for the saloon and estate are 109 g/km and 113 g/km respectively and some of the features that are offered as standard include curtain airbags, ESP, ‘Climatic’ air conditioning, electric windows,
electronic parking brake, RCD 310 radio / CD player and Multi Device
Interface (MDI) with iPod connectivity.
The 2012 Volkswagen Passat BlueMotion price starts at 19,875 GBP for the saloon and reach 21,180 GBP for the Estate.
