Owning a Mercedes is classy and you can be sure that you will get the best possible performance. The company has been known to produce quality automobiles for decades. They focus on build quality, features and performance. The 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a car that lives up to the standards set by the company. Let’s look at the spectacular 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class in detail:

Engine Specifications

There are a couple of engine variants in the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class. While some variants are aimed at providing economy with performance, others are aimed purely at providing impeccable performance. This vehicle even has a diesel variant. The diesel variant is a 2.1-liter inline 4-engine. It is the smallest engine in the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class lineup.

To provide a good performance, these 2.1-liter diesel engines are twin turbocharged. The rest of the engines are massive as compared to this one. The slightly more powerful engine variant of this Mercedes is a 3.5-liter V-type engine with 6 cylinders. If you think this engine variant is powerful, think again.

The sport variant of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has a 4.7-liter engine with a twin turbocharger system. There is a more powerful engine variant to cater to the needs of drivers who crave speed more than anything. This engine variant is twin turbocharged and has a capacity of 5.5 liters. The engine is a V-type with 8 cylinders.

Performance Rating

Each engine provides a fair performance. The 2.1-liter diesel engine generates 195 horses and has a good fuel mileage. In the city you will get about 28 miles to a gallon and on the highway the car will provide 45 miles to each gallon. The 3.5-liter gasoline engine generates a massive 273 ponies and 21 miles to a gallon in the city.

On the highway, this car can give you about 29 miles to a gallon. Comparatively, the 4.7-liter variant provides a similar gas mileage but a much better performance. This engine produces more than 400-horsepower and gives 17 miles to a gallon in the city. On the highway, this mileage goes up to 26 miles. The AMG variant of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the real deal.

The 5.5-liter engine produces a staggering 590-horsepower. For a spike of more than 150 horses, the decrease in gas mileage is quite minimal. This variant gives you 16 miles to a gallon in the city and 23 on the highway. But with performance like this, who cares about the gas mileage.

Transmission Options

All engine variants of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class have a 7-speed auto transmission. However, there are quite a few differences between the specs. The simple 7-speed transmission has a sports and economy mode and shift pedals on the steering wheel. The 4.7-liter variant has a driver adaptation system in the transmission. On the other hand, the 5.7-liter variant’s transmission means business. This transmission is also a 7-speed auto, but it has an S+ and even an M shift mode. Moreover, it has RACESTART capability.

Interior Styling

If you are concerned about interior styling and comfort, just remember that this is a Mercedes. The company does not leave anything to chance when it comes to luxury. The interior of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is absolutely impeccable. Each and every aspect of the interior is detailed to perfection.  In the center console you will find a built-in navigation system. The steering wheel and the front console of this car look like something out of a science fiction movie.

Exterior Design

The front end appearance of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is aggressive. What adds more class to the look is the large Mercedes emblem in the center of the grille. The aggressive front end appearance is combined with an equally stunning rear-end. The dual head exhausts add more class to the car’s appearance.
