Convertible cars are fun to drive, especially during the summer. The driving pleasure a convertible offers is unmatched. However, there are not many convertibles which are affordable and look amazing. One manufacturer known for manufacturing some of the best looking convertibles is BMW. If you are looking for a classy convertible ride, you should look no further than the 2015 BMW 2-Series. If you are not really intrigued by convertibles, you can always go for the hardtop variant. Let’s look at what this German automobile manufacturer is offering with the all-new 2015 BMW 2-Series:

Engine Specifications

BMW is offering two engine variants with the 2-Series. The main purpose of this car is to serve as a basic sports machine and provide luxury. So, the engine variants in the 2015 BMW 2-Series do not boast immense power. But they are powerful enough for a subcompact car. The first engine variant is an inline type with only 4 cylinders. This engine has a capacity of 2 liters.

This engine is meant to provide great gas mileage and a basic sporty drive. The second engine variant is more powerful. This engine is also an inline type but it has six cylinders instead of four. The capacity of this engine is 3 liters. This engine is significantly more powerful than the 2.0-liter variant. The best part about both engine variants is that they are turbocharged. To provide even better performance, they are equipped with an intercooler system.

Engine Performance

The performance both engine variants of the 2015 BMW 2-Series offers is unbelievable. The 2.0-liter engine variant generates an incredible 240 horses and 255 pounds per feet of torque even though it has only four cylinders. This is due to the intercooler and turbocharger system. To give it a great gas mileage and even more power, the engine has a direct gasoline injection system. Within the city, you should expect nothing less than 23 miles per gallon. Driving on the highway will give you 36 miles to a gallon.

If you want a snappy performing car you can take out for a spin on the track every now and then, you should opt for the 3.0-liter engine variant. This inline-6 engine generates a massive 320 horses and 330 pound of torque per feet. This engine promises 22 miles to a gallon within city limits. But on the highway, you can easily get 32 miles to a gallon.

Transmission Options

Since the 2015 BMW 2-Series is meant to combine luxury and sports in a single package, there is a single transmission option. But this transmission gives you multiple modes to suit your driving mood. The transmission is an 8-speed automatic. This transmission is equipped with shifting pedals mounted at the steering wheel. These pedals are activated once the car is put into sports mode. There are two variants of the 2015 BMW 2-Series which have a rear-wheel drivetrain. But if you want even better stability and handling, you can go for the all-wheel drivetrain.

Interior Styling

When it comes to interior styling, BMW never leaves anything to chance. The first thing you will notice about the 2015 BMW 2-Series is the comfortable seats. The seats are bucket style and provide you a good grip. However, most bucket styled seats can be uncomfortable but the seats of the 2-Series are amazing. Moreover, the interior offers a lot of legroom for the rear passengers, which is usually a problem when it comes to subcompact cars.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of the 2015 BMW 2-Series features a new headlamp and bumper design. This car is available as a hardtop and a convertible as well. No matter which variant you go for, you are sure to love the design.

If you are looking for a car your entire family would enjoy, the 2015 BMW 2-Series is the best option. Of course, you can have a little fun with it when you take it out for a spin on the track.
