Audi is known for delivering performance at an affordable price. Even a midsized supercar developed by Audi is sure to deliver exceptional performance. Most mid-sized supercars are not ideal machines to use as a daily driver. However, Audi has made sure that their vehicles excel in every aspect. The perfect example of this is Audi’s R8. This car is not only a beast on the track, but is quite luxurious for a car that is designed purely for performance. Let’s look at what the company is offering in the 2015 Audi R8:

Engine Specifications

The engine specifications of the 2015 Audi R8 are quite impressive. Across all variants and trims, the R8 offers two engines. The first engine is a V-type with 8 cylinders. The displacement of this engine is 4.2 liters. The second engine variant is rather aggressive. This engine variant is also a V-type, but it has 10 cylinders instead of 8. The displacement of this engine is 5.2 liters. Most supercars use turbochargers and superchargers to deliver exceptional performance. However, both the engine variants in the 2015 Audi R8 are naturally aspirated.

Engine Performance

The performance these engines deliver is truly amazing. The V-8 is the smaller engine variant. Yet it is rated to produce 430 ponies and 317 pounds of torque per feet. This engine delivers an incredible performance thanks to the direct gasoline injection system. The best part is that it is quite economical as well.

If you are driving within the city, you can easily get as much as 11 miles to a gallon. Driving on the highway can get you as much as 20 miles to a gallon. As opposed to the V-8 variant, the V-10 delivers far more power. Yet it is almost as economical as the V-8. The V-10 delivers a staggering 525 horses and 391 pounds of torque per feet. Despite the significant difference in power, this engine can give you as many as 12 miles to a gallon in the city. On the highway, you can get 19 miles to a gallon. The in-city gas mileage of the V-10 is better than the V-8 engine.

Transmission Options

There are two transmission options across all variants of the 2015 Audi R8. The best transmission option is the 7-speed auto transmission. This transmission delivers the best performance. The most attractive feature of the auto transmission is the pedal shifters. In addition to the pedal shifters, the auto transmission variants are equipped with Audi’s launch control system. Most enthusiasts prefer manual transmissions. To facilitate such drivers, Audi has introduced a 6-speed manual transmission. The 2015 Audi R8 houses an All-Wheel drivetrain. This gives this supercar exceptional handling capabilities.

Interior Styling

The first thing you will notice about the 2015 Audi R8’s interior is the bucket seats. The seats of the R8 are nothing like traditional bucket seats. The bucket seats in most performance based cars are meant to keep the driver in place when they make sharp turns. However, the 2015 Audi R8’s seats are extremely comfortable. Yet, they do not lack the performance aspect. The steering wheel houses volume buttons so you can control your music without any hassle. The best thing about the interior is the instrument panel. It is simple, yet elegant.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of the 2015 Audi R8 has not seen significant chances since its previous models. However, there are many design aspects that have been revised. These minor design changes give the 2015 Audi R8 a fresh appearance.

All in all, the 2015 Audi R8 is a great ride. You can use it as a daily driver and every now and then you can take it for a spin on the track.
