The Mercedes-Benz brand has been dominating the luxury car segment for quite some time now and it doesn’t seem they are going to give up any time soon. Just recently, Mercedes-Benz launched the 2015 version of the SLK-Class, which combines the mini-SL style with a choice of potent powertrains.

The base model has a price tag of only $43,950 and other more powerful models reach all the way up to $70,900. Regardless of the price, the car is definitely worth the money you spend on it. Don’t believe it? Well, take a look below and get ready to be surprised.

Performance

When compared to previous SLK-Class models, the performance of the 2015 model has definitely been toned down, but not in a bad way. The base model’s new turbo four-cylinder 1.8-liter engine delivers an impressive horsepower of 201 and torque of 229 lb-ft and delivers an outstanding fuel efficiency of 23 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. So, the fuel economy has definitely received a huge upgrade. The new suspension and aerodynamic improvements have also made the car a whole lot fun to drive, as cornering and handling of the vehicle has seen significant improvement.

Exterior

The 2015 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class hits the road as a luxury coupe. Even with its compact footprint, it manages to balance luxury cues and sporty lines. When compared to its previous counterpart, the car has a more masculine appearance and slight changes have been made to the bumpers, side skirts, headlights and taillights. All in all, the look is definitely a vast improvement over past models and provides a nice balance between the over-styled second-generation car and blocky first-gen SLK!

Interior

The SLK-Class, even though it is a 2-seater, still manages to be incredibly spacious, luxurious and comfortable from the inside. The car looks decent, neat and organized with the new dashboard and cockpit changes and the previous cluttered look has almost been overhauled. When the roof is tucked in, the view from behind makes the SLK look distinctive, with its metallic twin peaks on the seatbacks. Therefore, you can say the interior of the car has been improved significantly as well.

Features

Mercedes-Benz has definitely taken care of its budget-conscious buyers this year and has introduced a number of outstanding features in all of its SLK configurations. Whether you go for the SLK 350 or the SLK 250, all SLKs come equipped with power leather seats, a Harman surround system with eight-speakers, HD radio, audio streaming, a USB port, power windows, doors, locks, and, of course, climate control. Across the model line, you also get the Mercedes-Benz hardtop convertible roof. Other options include a panoramic glass roof, automatic dual-zone climate control, parking sensors, and push-button start.

  • Harman/Kardon Surround System

Safety

Because of its low sales volume, the SLK-Class hasn’t been crash tested by IIHS or NHTSA. Regardless, the SLK comes equipped with a long list of safety technologies which ensure the car is safe to drive. The 2015 SLK-Class boasts active head restraints, MBRACE telematics, traction and stability control, anti-lock brakes, dual-front, side, and head airbags. Additionally, all models also feature the latest Attention Assist System, which monitors driver inputs (driving style) to sense when you are feeling drowsy or tired and then suggests a break.
