Hybrid cars are becoming popular by the day. These cars are gaining popularity as more people are becoming aware of the benefits it offers. The early hybrid cars were not fine machines and lagged in several areas. However, with the appropriate amount of research, the technology has been refined. Although the hybrid cars you see nowadays may not be perfect, but they are quite reliable. In addition, as the technology becomes more common, more innovative features will be introduced.

Honda was one of the manufacturers who weren’t able to launch a successful hybrid car in the past. The car had a poor fuel economy and wasn’t as environmentally–friendly as the other hybrids on the market. However, Honda is looking to change all that with the introduction of the new Plug-in Hybrid Accord. The technology introduced in the 2014 Honda Accord Plug-in Hybrid is nothing short of amazing. It is fuel efficient and gives off low emissions. Let’s take a look at how the Accord Plug-In Hybrid is powered:

The Hybrid Engine

For the 2014 Accord Plug-In Hybrid, Honda has developed a new type of engine. The engine appears to be pretty snappy and efficient. The new engine is called Earth Dreams. It is an In-Line type, four-cylinder, 2-litre engine. The aluminum alloy engine produces 141 horsepower which enables the new Accord Plug-In Hybrid to pack quite a punch.

The car’s electrical system is based on two AC Synchronous Permanent-Magnet Electric Motors. These motors are run by a 6.7-kWh lithium-ion battery. Unlike some hybrids out there, the Accord doesn’t recharge its batteries on its own. The batteries need to be recharged by plugging the car in to an external power source. This may seem like a lot of work, but the car runs for a great distance before the engine kicks in.

On a fully charged battery, the Accord will run a staggering 13 miles. In travelling the distance, the electricity consumption of the Accord is 3.6 kWh. This means, the car is travelling 3.85 miles on 1 kWh of electricity. The distance it travels on every kWh is excellent. However, the gas engine also provides great fuel economy. The new gas engine developed by Honda gives an average of 42 miles per gallon.

Many would assume that the specs would mean a degraded performance. However, this is untrue. The car is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60mph in a little over seven seconds. For a hybrid car providing a spectacular fuel average, this is great. These features make the 2014 Accord Plug-in an excellent choice in Hybrid Cars.

Features and Design

As always, Honda has not left anything to chance. The 2014 Accord Plug-In Hybrid comes fully equipped with all the latest gadgets. Even the upholstery of this car is made with environmentally friendly materials. The upholstery appears classy and elegant despite the use of unconventional materials to make it. The interior is spacious and provides plenty of room for a family of four to five people. It has GPS navigation and amazingly comfortable seats. The external design of the car is quite unlike any other hybrid. It has a sporty look to complement its powerful engine and electric motor.

The 2014 Accord Plug-In Hybrid is expected to hit the market next year. With this car you will not only save on fuel and substantially reduce damage to the planet, but also save on taxes. If you add up all the savings, it shows why the Honda Accord Plug-in Hybrid is a great choice for you.
