The SUV market is becoming competitive every day. Manufacturers are constantly trying to come up with new and innovative features to keep up with the customers’ expectations. This year Ford has done it again with a new SUV, the all new 2014 Ford Flex. Let’s look at what Ford has to offer in this vehicle:

Engine Specifications

The Ford Flex 2014 is a rather unconventional Sports Utility Vehicle. This is mainly due to the specifications of its engine. The Ford Flex 2014 has been introduced in a couple of variants. However, the basic specification of the engine in each of the variants is the same. Of course there are some upgrades in one variant which make it a stand out. Let’s look the engine variants of the Ford Flex 2014.

The basic engine type of the Ford Flex 2014 is a V-type engine with six cylinders. The engine has a capacity of 3.5 liters. The basic engine design produces an impressive 287 horsepower. One of the reasons the Ford Flex 2014 is different from other SUV’s in the market is the second engine type. The basic configuration of the engine is the same; it’s a 3.5-liter V-6.

However, this engine variant is turbocharged, not with one, but two turbo chargers. This is known as the EcoBoost technology. This is a new technology developed by Ford which has been introduced in a few other cars as well. The EcoBoost technology gives the engine an extra 78 horsepower. The engine with EcoBoost is rated at 365 horsepower.

Moreover, this engine is capable of accelerating the SUV from 0 to 60 miles in just seven seconds. Combine this with the electronic steering system and the Ford Flex 2014 is a pleasure to drive. Not only is the car the fastest in its class but it has a precise and responsive steering system. With the engine and steering specs alone this SUV has the capability of becoming the best in the market.

Transmission Specifications

The transmission for all the variants of the Ford Flex 2014 is the same. However, the variant with the EcoBoost has a few additions to the standard transmission. These additions give the transmission the capability of handling the power from the Twin Turbo Chargers. The transmission of the Ford Flex 2014 is a 6-speed automatic.

The EcoBoost variant has dual exhausts which make it easier for the engine to breathe. Moreover, the battery of this variant is also more powerful. On all other variants the six speed transmission is equipped with a shifter button for activation.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of the Ford Flex 2014 is different from regular SUVs in the market. It looks like a concept vehicle. One of the most attractive features of the exterior of the Ford Flex 2014 is the grille. The grille and the headlamps mesh together as one. Similarly, the front bumper, grille and headlamps come together as one.

Interior Design

The seating capacity of the Ford Flex 2014 is unbelievable. This SUV can seat up to seven passengers, making it ideal for a large family. If you need the Flex to carry cargo, you can fold the rear seats onto the floor. This will give you a lot of cabin space for cargo. The console is something that will definitely catch your eye.

The buttons on the console are not pop-up like other vehicles. The console is smooth and elegant which makes it a standout. All of the seats are equipped with seatbelts for safety. Moreover, the seats are extremely comfortable and provide plenty of leg room for all passengers.

The Ford Flex 2014 not only provides great features but it is the fastest vehicle in its class.
