The midsized sedan market is quite competitive. To appeal to midsized car lovers, Dodge has introduced the all new Dodge Avenger this year. The 2014 Dodge Avenger is nothing short of amazing innovative features. Let’s look at what this amazing car has to offer.

Engine Specifications

The 2014 Dodge Avenger has three variants in total. Out of these three variants, two run on the same engine type. For a mid-sized sedan the 2014 Dodge Avenger has impressive engine specifications. The first engine variant is an Inline type engine. The engine has a capacity of 2.4-liters. This engine gives a fabulous gas mileage.

Within the city, the 2014 Dodge Avenger will give you 21 miles to the gallon. You can get up to 30 miles per gallon on the highway. The 2.4-liter Inline type engine may seem like a small four cylinder engine. However, the engine is rated for an amazing 173 horsepower. This is a decent amount of horsepower for a mid-sized sedan.

However, if you are looking for something with a little more kick to it, Dodge does have another engine variant for you. The second engine variant of the 2014 Dodge Avenger is a six cylinder V-type. This V-type engine has a capacity of 3.6 liters and is almost two times as powerful as the 2.4 liter variant. This engine is rated for an astounding 283 horsepower.

Even though the 3.6 liter variant offers significantly more horsepower, the gas mileage is quite similar. Within the city you can expect to get up to 19 miles to a gallon, which is two miles less than the 2.4 liter version. On highways it promises up to 29 miles to a gallon.

Since the mileage per gallon is not much different between the two variants, people shouldn’t be too hesitant to go for the more powerful variant. After all, everyone likes a little extra power under the hood.

Transmission Specifications

The 2014 Dodge Avenger has two variants in transmission as well. However, none of these variants include a manual transmission. Both the transmission types are automatic. This is a plus point as most people prefer automatic transmissions for luxury.

The 2.4 liter engine variant has a four-speed automatic transmission. This transmission is equipped with a VLP or Variable Line Pressure system. This system, as the name suggests, changes the oil pressure in the transmission. This feature is known to extend the life of an automatic transmission.

If the car is not under a lot of stress the transmission decreases the oil pressure. On the other hand if the transmission is under considerable stress, oil pressure is increased. The second transmission variant is the six-speed automatic. This transmission variant is limited to the 3.6 liter engine version.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of the 2014 Dodge Avenger is definitely something everyone will love. Although it is a mid-sized sedan, the 2014 Dodge Avenger has a muscular look to it. Unlike most cars that mellow down the otherwise mean appearance with a subtle tail, the Avenger maintains its aggressive demeanor at both front and rear ends.

Interior Design

The interior of the 2014 Dodge Avenger is simple and elegant. It features comfortable leather seats and lots of leg room. The car looks small on the outside. But the interior is surprisingly spacious. Not only the front seats but the rear seats provide a lot of leg room as well. The dashboard is well detailed as compared to earlier models.

All in all the 2014 Dodge Avenger is a great midsize sedan. The pricing of this car is quite reasonable and it packs quite a punch.
