Alfa Romeo is an Italian car manufacturer with over 100 years of history. Unfortunately, Alfa hasn’t always been a popular choice but this isn’t something we should hold against them. All top brands experience difficulties as they perfect their craft and the problems which Alfa has encountered in the past have been mere challenges for them to overcome; the situations which have allowed them to see sales in the UK rise over the past couple of years as drivers rediscover the thrill of their vehicles and superior craftsmanship.
Style and sophistication are two words that immediately spring to mind when you think of the recent Alfas – luxury vehicles which cater to all. One area that Alfa Romeo has excelled in recently is hatchback cars, the Giulietta and Mito are two models that are gracing British roads in style, so here’s a bit more about them.
Giulietta
The Giulietta has a very sporty coupe style but also the practicality of a hatchback, making it a popular choice with young professional families. The D.N.A system makes driving effortless as the steering, suspension and gearbox are all adapted to the terrain.
There are two petrol and diesel engines, a 1.4 litre petrol engine with 120bhp or 170bhp, and a 1.6 and 2.0 litre JTDM-2 diesel option. Standard features included a CD and MP3 player, climate control, electric windows and 60/40 seat split folding in the rear. Prices start from £19,495.
MiTo
Everything about this supermini is sporty – it manages to retain some of the classic Alfa style whilst still offering the latest in luxury design and that is what makes it so popular. The Mito is incredibly responsive with great control too, giving superb handling for a smooth and exhilarating drive.
Just like the Giulietta, there are a few engine choices; 1.4 litre petrol with 78bhp, 105bhp, 135bhp and 170bhp as well as 1.3 litre and 1.6 litre diesel configurations. Entertainment and media features on the entry level model include radio CD player with MP3 compatibility, central locking, trip computer and climate control but more luxurios trim models are available for those interested in upping the comfort even more. Prices start from £12,250.
