The Volkswagen Amarok is one of the oldest pickup trucks on sale. The Germans are working on a new generation which will be built by Ford, but until then, the Australian division of Volkswagen has decided to come up with a special edition.
They have teamed up with the specialists from Walkinshaw Automotive Group and have unveiled the Amarok 580X. Under the hood of the pickup truck is a twin-turbodiesel 3.0-liter V6 unit with 255 horsepower and 580 Nm of peak torque.

The engine is mated to an all-wheel drive system and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The guys from Walkinshaw have mounted a suspension lift kit, a snorkel and upgraded twin-tube dampers. There are also new 18-inch forged wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires. The wheel arches are now bigger, while the underbody has more protection.
