Opel has built the 750.000th Insignia unit at the Russelsheim plant since the model was unveiled in 2008. The milestone model is an Insignia OPC Sports Tourer painted in Arden Blue color.
Under the hood is a 2.8 liter V6 engine that can deliver 325 horsepower and 435 Nm peak of torque. As a result, the wagon can travel from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.3 seconds. More than that, the Insignia is one of the best-selling Opel models. In 2014, the car was sold across the world in over 100.000 units.
In the US and China, Opel Insignia is sold as Buick Regal while the OPC sedan is exported to Australia and New Zealand under the Holden VXR badge.
“This is a special day for the entire team. We have every reason to be proud of the fact that we have already produced our successful Insignia model 750,000 times. Our team does an outstanding job day in, day out, manufacturing highly complex vehicles in top quality,” said plant manager Axel Scheiben. The Opel Insignia is produced exclusively in the automaker’s main plant in Rüsselsheim.
