Mugen decided to inject an extra dose of power into the Honda Civic Type R, a hot hatch which debuted in 2010 as a limited run model of only 20 exemplars.
In order to obtain the extra power that we just mentioned, Mugen’s Euro division has increased the the engine’s cylinder bore and stroke and created an overall capacity of 2,156 cc. This way the output was boosted from 240 to 260 PS while peak torque is now 240 Nm at 6,000 rpm, which means the Honda Civic Type R MUGEN 2.2 is 30 percent more potent than the standard model.
Apart from that the car comes with the previous motor-sport-derived features, meaning a tuned suspension, upgraded brakes and an aggressive looking bodykit.
From the 20 limited edition 2.0-litre exemplars Honda Civic Type R, the company has only sold 16 units in the UK, and at this point Mugen is considering offering those unsold with the retuned 2.2-litre engine, but is also thinking of inviting existing owners to an engine retune program.
