Giorgetto Giugiaro has decided to sell his remaining stock in the company which he founded to Audi. About five years ago, the legendary car designer sold 90.1% of his stake to Italdesign Giugiaro SpA to Audi.

As a result, Audi has full ownership of the company that was founded by Giorgetto in 1968. Besides selling the stock, Giugiaro decided to leave the company after he designed about 100 production cars including the original Volkswagen Golf, Passat and Scirocco.

Giorgetto Giugiaro was also responsible for the birth of the BMW M1, Maserati Bora, Audi 80, Fiat Panda, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Sprint and Brera.
