If we are going back in 2010, every FOrd F-150 was sold with a V8 engine. But today, the world has changed and after an aggressive promotion, the EcoBoost engine managed to become a best seller.

More than 60% of all F-150’s are now equipped with a turbocharged V6 engine. And this helped Ford to sell one million EcoBoost-powered F-150 trucks over the past five years.

The first EcoBoost engine was first introduced in 2011 and now, the F-150 can be ordered with a 2.7 liter or a 3.5 liter version. This fall, Ford will introduce a new version of the 3.5 liter motor that will come with start – stop, a ten-speed automatic transmission and several other efficiency improvements.

But EcoBoost engines are’t sold only in the F-150 pick-up truck. The units are offered across almost all of Ford’s current products. Another important thing is that in this March, Ford announced that it has built a total of five million EcoBoost-powered vehicles worldwide.
