The first test drive with the Fisker Karma comes from a dealership in Santa Monica who took the extended-range electric sports car for a short ride on the streets of Los Angeles.

Even though the footage and the guy behind the wheel do not mention key aspects, like the range or the mpg of this car, we do get to hear a few things that make the Fisker Karma so unique.

With a sticker price of $100,000 USD attached to it, the Fisker Karma makes use of a powertrain that combines a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine in the front, two rear-positioned electric motors and a number of electric batteries which extract their juice from various sources and in various circumstances.

For example, when the car accelerates, the 2.0-litre petrol engine acts like a range extender, but the batteries also recharge when the car brakes or when the sun hits the car’s solar panel roof.
