The British magazine Top Gear has names the BMW i8 as the Car of the Year. "The BMW is a milestone in the annals of automotive history and a glorious statement for an exciting and positive future." He added, "It’s the kind of car we should celebrate, a beautiful vision of the future, delivered now", said Charlie Turner, Top Gear editor-in-chief.

Engine 

Under the hood of the BMW i8 is a plug-in hybrid power train that has a 1.5 liter gasoline engine with three-cylinders and an electric motor energized by a lithium-ion battery pack. As a result, the hybrid power train delivers 362 horsepower. Under these conditions, the BMW i8 can run from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.4 seconds, while the top speed was limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).
 
Fuel Consumption

In addition, the fuel consumption is reported at 2.1 liters per 100 kilometers (112 mpg) and in the 100% electric mode; the car can travel up to 37 kilometers (23 mph).
