Ariel unveiled today its brand new Atom 3.5R, which will rival supercars with its price and performances. The two seats roadster will use a heavily modified engine, provided by old generation Honda Civic Type R.
Yes, its the 2.0 liter petrol engine, that can deliver up to 350 bhp at a whooping 8400 rpm. It is 40 hp more than the standard version of the Ariel Atom. The amount of power added was possible with the help of a custom sidepod-mounted intercooler and also by increasing boost from 7.5 to 11 psi.
With a maximum weight of just 550 kg, the power is enough to impress every passionate. The 350 hp can spin the wheels from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds, a performance that can rival supercars with V12 engines.
To keep up with the added performacne, Ariel also installed an adjustable limited-slip differential, Ohlins springs and TTX adjustable dampers. The brakes now have four-piston calipers fitted onto vented discs.
Not going on sale in the United States, the Ariel atom 3.5R will set you off 80.000 GBP or 97.500 euro, much more than you would pay for a car that offers you just performance and nothing else.
